Specify the finished blank
For sheet, plate and flat bar, provide thickness, width and length. For solid round bar, provide diameter and length; for square bar, side size and length. Tubes require outside dimensions, wall thickness and cut length. For angle and channel, add the section dimensions and any supplier designation in your notes. Include quantity and identify any allowance for later machining. Requested geometry does not establish that a section is available or can be made from stock.

- Required alloy and temper or condition.
- Dimensional tolerance for each critical feature.
